Here are some stories from our Elementary Students:

Martin Buser came in at around 1:30 today. He had 9 dogs and wearing
his running shoes. He had gifts for the kids and is taking his 8 hour
layover here. This is the first time in a long time he stayed here in
shag, usually he is checking in and taking off. He ain't leaving until
about 9:30 or something. We had a bunch of posters up for him this
time.

John Baker came in about 5:30 and he had 15 dogs. He didn't have
running shoes, he had like big bunny boots or something, but they were
black. He is doing his 8 hour layover. He offered to carry water for
DeeDee when she came in. He was pretty sleepy because he was staggering
and barely standing up.

DeeDee came in about 5:35, about 5 min. after John Baker and she had 12
dogs. She had big boots and she was all dressed up when she came into
town in a big blue parka and a coat. Her dogs had matching booties that
were black and blue. She was sleepy and she was hiding when we were
trying to take her picture.

Mitch Seavey came at 5:25 but we didn't see him when he came into town.
We seen him and we talked to him and he let us take his picture. He was
covering his dogs with little blankets and they looked little black
circles when they were covered. Leroy asked him about his dad and his
son racing and he said they should be here later in the week.

Isn't this a GREAT picture of Martin Buser?!

John Baker and Dee Dee stop for a break in the Community Hall, our Checker's headquarters.

Tim Osmar, winner of the Yukon Quest, was ready to leave early this
morning before the kids arrived on the scene. He was taking care of his
dogs and offered all of his old booties for our class, so that means Sly
will have booties to wear to his next stop. He also offered his extra
dog food for students who have dogs here in our class. Thanks Tim, that
was nice.

Last night there was over 30 mushers came here. I don't know if Sly was
there becuase he was with Sharon. D D Jonrowe had almost took her 12
hours to come here from Iditarod but it took her 9 hours and 35 minutes.
Most of the kids wanted to get her autograph. She took her 8 hours here.

Today I took a picture of some of the mushers teams. I'm going to send
pictures. The first one is Longo's team by our play ground. The 2nd one
is Gwen's team near the garage. The 3rd one is Juan's team the side of
the garage. Gwen is a rookie. She is nice. The last 2 pictures is Gwen
Holdmann. She is the fastest rookie this year. I gotta go now bye.
